Hey Ya'll,
Well, with this FANTASTIC weather gracing us for the next 7 days, Lynn and I have decided to venture into Pa, take advantage of the nice weather this long weekend and give our iron steeds a scenic, twisty excursion workout....

Today's run was an amalgamation of the Caledon and Burlington Bay loop rides. Disappointed I wasn't able to attend Upper Canada Cruisers annual Canada Day pilgrimage to Watkin’s Glen NY, I was definitely looking forward to capitalizing on a gorgeous summer day with like minded riders....

Woke up this morning to beautiful blue skies and a warm temperature of 23*. Didn’t have to coax Lynn for a quick jaunt to the Niagara area, she was well ahead of me on my mindful thoughts....

Let me be a little philosophical and say today's ride represents the snow flake principal...That is to say, no two are alike. "Big Al" led a group of six eager riders on what I thought would be the traditional Burlington Bay loop and Niagara escarpment ride.....

After a hearty breakfast, Lynn (my wife) and I saddled up and around 10:30am and headed towards the picturesque Niagara region.
As we casually cruised along Lakeshore Road, through downtown Oakville, we glanced at the foggy, ripple free Lake Ontario from the Sixteen Mile river bridge…the lake water was calm and smooth as glass.
In Burlington, we pulled over and I snapped a picture of Lynn with the misty Burlington Skyway Bridge in the background.
Note: Few weeks later, price of fuel drops to .72.9/litre and London, ON received 70cm of snow with overnight temps dropping down to -10*C...YIKES!

A great Fall day for Al’s circuitous tour of the Niagara Escarpmant and Wine Country. Did I count 10 bikes with 3 riding 2 up? Do I forecast a couple or 3 new members for UCC? Donna? Lidia? Derek (that was the name right with his Polish tourist passenger? Sorry, forgot her name, too)?

Note: This leisurely escorted ride takes you along the shores of Lake Ontario to steep challenging passageways of the Bruce escarpment and then onto Niagara’s fragrant picturesque wine country.

Dear UCC Members,
Due to overwhelming demand there will be a repeat of the Tristate tour during the labour day weekend. Take-off is from exit 38B (Niagara-on-the Lake) at precisely 8:30 AM, Fri Aug 29 .Planned return for Mon Sept 1. Please arrive earlier if you are having coffee or breakfast.
Note: This tour encompasses three states, PA, Md and West Virginia. What follows is a small excerpt from RoadRunner magazine re: the Laurel Highlands Scenic Byway (SR381).
" Gentle sweeping curves lead through a rolling countryside of horse farms. In West Virginia the terrain gets more rugged and the riding becomes more fun, but also more challenging. Decreasing radius, off-camber, downhill curves demand full concentration. The scenery in this remote, less populated area is often breathtaking"

We left 'GPS Fred' and party Monday morning, in Somerset Pa, for their trek back home while Lynn and I headed south into West Virginia via Rte 219
In WV Lynn noticed a sign which read CAUTION: This road not recommended for trucks..."Hey!", she cracked over the CB radio, "Must be a motorcycle road with wicked tight twists and turns."
We quickly hit the binders and turned onto Rte 72. Initially the road was fine, but then it turned into a frost heaved choppy ride with vicious uphill/downhill narrow switchbacks...barely got out of 2nd gear for 17 miles...
Note: West Virginia, with it’s rolling hills, scenic valleys and winding highways, is one of America's best-kept motorcycling secrets.

Arrived Lake George Battleground State Park under dark ominous skies and very quickly set up tent and tarp before the rain started... "WHEW!"
Nighttime temps were in the 50’s with a light drizzle of rain.
Note: Since 1983, the scenic Lake George area hosts Americade, the world's largest multi-brand motorcycle touring rally. Americade is known to draw over 50,000 riders and passengers each year for a week of events, exhibits and vendors.

A big thanks to Al for giving us the "Ride like a pro" refresher course at Humber this morning. I think we honed and improved our cornering abilities more in 40 minutes than in the entire riding season.
Hey Al, can we incorporate this in the calendar as the spring refresher ride??
Even Mort was drag'n his knee around those corners!!

To All the Boyz & Girlz out there in Motorcycle Land
We had an unscheduled ride set for to-day and 5, yes 5 hearty motorcyclists show up...
Note: You start motorcycling with a bag full of 'LUCK' and an empty bag of 'EXPERIENCE'. The trick is to fill the bag of 'experience' before you empty the bag of 'luck'.

To whom it may concern;
The Avon Venoms seem to be a grrrrreat tire...certainly better than the OEM Dunflops....Derf sent me a Wing forum blurb crapping on the water logged Dunflops and praising the stones (bridgestones)
Hell the bike even corners better and handles better now if I can just get a handle on ny handle.
